Slickers Growth Chart
❶ The growth cycle begins when a living egg is deposited into the pond nest.

❷ When the egg first hatches it is nothing more than a bulb of a head and tail, this is the Hatchling stage.

❸ This is where the Tadkit stage first begins. After about a month's time the tadkit has begun to grow rounder, more bean shaped to make room for the growing skeleton beneath. Just beginning are tiny little flippers in the front that help the tadkit latch onto weeds and rocks when hiding.

❹ The tadkit has taken another month to finally sprout the beginnings of it's pudgy front legs. These legs help it scamper into tight spots in the rocks and edges to hide from predators like large fish, birds, or other water-happy predators! A shiny extra layer of skin has his hind quarters covered as what looks like to be hind legs growing in it's protective bubble.

❺ Another month has gone by and the hind legs have grown large enough to shed through the protective skin layer, the tadkit uses his webbed toes to paddle everywhere. He is faster than ever scooting around the fresh water bottom.

❻ The tadkit now reluctantly plays in the fresh water, it is growing large enough to be easily seen by predators and does most of it's time eating and hiding. During this month he will focus on feeding and growing those extra toes while testing the surface world. His nostrils are just starting to open up the more he ventures landward.

❼ The last leg of the growth cycle... The tadkit is still very young, but now big and strong enough to pull itself upward onto land with it's wobbly legs. It will take getting use too, but the longer the tadkit stays on land the quicker he will mature. He now has all his toes, darkened markings to help his camouflage, pupils now react to heavy light, and his tail has grown thicker as the fin as grown much smaller. In time the fin itself will dry up and shed itself away, once the fin is completely gone the tadkit is considered and able bodied adult slicker.
